It feels like its been a long time coming this year, but Spring is finally here.  Hooray! And with the new season comes the new spring trends.

However, in the fashion world there are often two trends that often appear in Spring: florals and stripes. The good thing is that whatever your Colouring or Style Personality , there is Floral or Stripe out there to suit you. So let me help you navigate making these trends work for you.

Florals

If you are drawn to the statement prints, then you might be a Dramatic style personality. Therefore with these trends, you will be looking for big bold patterns and in brighter colours. Like this floral jacket from Next

There are lots of floral jackets in the shops right now. Everything from padded quilt jackets, to floaty chiffons to floral blazers. So lots of options to go bold with this spring trend on your top half.  If you are triange shaped, ie wider on the bottom half, then a bold floral print on your top half will balance out your proportions.

However, bold patterns don’t have to stay on the top half.  I love this skirt from Boden, and there are lots of pinks around this SS’25, so this skirt hits two Spring trends

I often say with new season trends, that you can just refresh your current wardrobe with a well placed accessory.  This necklace from Accessorize would add a dash of Spring to all outfits, from casual jeans and sweatshirt outit, to going out for dinner.

Those of you who like a touch of feminity to your look, you might be a Romatic Style personality.  If so, you may be naturally drawn to the floral spring trend, but often in a more sutble and pretty way. For example this wrap top from Crew clothing.  There are lots of blues around this spring too – and this top would suit anyone with a cooler undertone.

Or these sutble trainers from Fat Face

Stripes

Stripes tend to be more of a Classic print, but this season stripes come in alll different shapes and sizes! For example, there is nothing Classic about this striped top!  This season, even stripes dont have to be straight – and this one also has frills, which are another big trend that you will see lots of this season.

Stripes are great for balancing out body proportions if you are wider on the top half or bottom half – just wear the horizontal stripes on your narrowest part of your body to even our your shape.  They can also be used to give the illusion of lengthing parts of your body, like these jeans from White Stuff are a great leg lengthener even though they are cropped.

However stripes can be tricky to wear for some – and thats where diagonal stripes come into their own – as they distract the eye.  This is a great example from L.K. Bennett.

And my last pick of these two spring trends is this bold striped bag from Monsoon, which would liik great with a neutral or colour block outfit
